Sontor GmbH

Sontor GmbH is a one-hundred-percent-owned subsidiary of Q-Cells AG. It is the first factory to manufacture thin layer modules on the basis of micromorphic silicon technology. Sontor's roots go back to a development at the research center in Jülich, where in 1994 the first results were obtained concerning a very promising technology. At the Thalheim, Saxony-Anhalt location the pilot line went into operation in 2007 in two stages. The integration of the second increment with an automated mono images line was accomplished during operations. The capacity was thereby increased from 8 to 25 MWp. ib vogt assisted in the planning and realization. An expansion of about 60 MWp is planned.
